Professional Background

Alyce Benson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years experience working with adults, adolescents, and children with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health disorders. She received both her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Ms. Benson currently works at the Chattanooga Autism Center providing individual, family, and group therapy to persons impacted by Autism and at the National Center for START Services as an associate project facilitator. She was chosen as the NASW TN Social Worker of the Year in 2014. She specializes in working with individuals who present complex behavioral, medical, and psychological concerns, and has extensive experience working in numerous community-based settings and with numerous interdisciplinary teams. She has provided seminars at both national and international conferences for SNTI, NADD and AAMR. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers. Alyce is an associate project facilitator working with Tennessee and Southern California teams. She also co-facilitates the team leader and program director practice group. Alyce enjoys her work with the autistic community and providing training to increase understanding and acceptance of autistic individuals. Alyce enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys learning and experiencing new places.
