Professional Background:

Alyse M. Scura-Mohammed, MA, EdM, LMHC-D holds a dual masters degree in Counseling Psychology and Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York who is trained/certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Juvenile Sexual Risk Assessments. Alyse has been involved in research throughout her education and career, currently working on a research project with NCSS on trauma in the IDD population. In addition to previously working on a START team, Alyse also owns and operates a private practice providing individual counseling. Alyse is a Project Manager who works with projects in New York and California to develop/implement the START model.  She supports projects at all phases of implementation. Alyse is interested in further understanding of trauma and the impact on the IDD population. Alyse enjoys spending time with her family, including her dog, Kennedy, traveling and watching documentaries.
