2022 Impact Report

Greetings from IOD Director Kelly Nye-Lengerman

Kelly is a woman with brown hair.

Each year brings new opportunities and changes, and 2022 was an example of this. Since NCSS’s inception in 2009, Dr. Joan Beasley has led the center and created national momentum to improve lives of individuals with IDD-MH and their families. In July 2022, Dr. Beasley stepped down from her role as Director of NCSS. She continues to be engaged in impactful research, consultation, and teaching at UNH and beyond. Her leadership, guidance, and commitment have built a national network of START programs and partnerships which have changed how services and supports are delivered and received.

In December 2022, NCSS welcomed a new Director, Ms. Pam Flaherty, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences in leadership, disability, educational engagement, and systems change. New leadership provides NCSS and our network the opportunity to strengthen and highlight our impacts, as well as explore new ways to collaborate and lead in the field of IDD-MH. Our work and positive outcomes are multiplied by the national network of START teams, providers, individuals with lived experience, researchers, and allies who are dedicated to the creating responsive communities that meet the mental health needs of people with IDD. Thank you for your continued engagement and partnership. Together, we’ll continue to do amazing work.
